For some, the thought of undergoing any type of surgery – especially surgery on their nose or face – brings with it a bit of anxiety…not just about the surgery itself, but about the recovery process. Also known as a “

  • Rest and take it easy. You may feel great about a week after rhinoplasty surgery, but the tissues of your nose are still healing. Please be gentle with your nose during this time. For several weeks following your surgery we suggest that you avoid these 6 things:
    1.Contact sports
    2.Strenuous exercise
    3.Vigorously washing your face
    4.Pulling clothing over your head
    5.Blowing your nose
    6.Wearing glasses
  • Change your bandages often. Following surgery, you will have bandages tucked on the inside and taped on the outside your nose. To ensure that your nose heals properly and to avoid infection, it’s essential that you follow Dr. Dunkley’s instructions on how to change the bandages. Be especially diligent in using clean bandages on the inside of your nose.
  • Avoid swimming. This is pretty obvious. Remember your nose is healing. Don’t swim for about a month following surgery. The pressure from jumping or diving into a pool puts a lot of pressure on the inside and outside of your nose and chlorine is a definite no-no.

We want your rhinoplasty recovery to be optimum. The procedure can be life-changing, especially in the hands of Dr. Dunkley.
