Have you spent your entire life feeling a bit self-conscious because of the size or shape of your nose? Do you feel like your confidence would be boosted if you could get a rhinoplasty? If so, there is no better time than now to consider getting a rhinoplasty from a doctor like Dr. Benjamin Dunkley. To help you decide whether or not a rhinoplasty is for you, we have created an article with a list of common myths associated with rhinoplasties. Read on to learn more.
Myth #1: You Will Have Huge Black Eyes
Because a rhinoplasty can involve having to break parts of the nose to reshape and resculpt it, the impact from the break can cause trauma to the eyes— leaving them a bit discolored or swollen. In some instances, you may experience some blackening around the lower part of your eyes, but it’s usually not as bad as patients think. If you do get some bruising around your eyes, it should subside in under a week on average. To help get rid of the bruising, you can ice the area and take some ibuprofen.
Myth #2: It Will Be Too Obvious
Your rhinoplasty results will be as subtle as you want them to be. If you don’t want to change your entire look and are worried about it being too obvious, don’t worry; Dr. Benjamin Dunkley can do just that. During your initial consultation, you and Dr. Dunkley will go over the results that you want, and you can rest assured that you will be more than satisfied.
Myth #3: It’s Only for Cosmetic Reasons
The majority of our patients that come into our office for a rhinoplasty do so for cosmetic purposes. However, there are some patients who choose to get a rhinoplasty due to things like a deviated septum which make it harder for them to breathe out of their nose properly. When Dr. Dunkley corrects a deviated septum, it’s easy for him to make cosmetic changes at the same time— a win, win for the patient.
